2 Days Congo Gorilla Trek Experience.
This 2 Days Virunga gorilla trekking safari in the Democratic Republic of Congo is a short but fascinating tour that allows travelers to enjoy the presence of endangered mountain gorillas in Virunga national park.
NOTE: This safari requires that you arrive and stay in Kigali the previous night before the start of the safari or be at Kigali international airport or Goma airport early morning.
ITINERARY
DAY 1: KIGALI CITY TOUR
You will be picked up from your lodge in Kigali or from Kigali international airport and have a day city tour where you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial sites, and the kimironko market, and also enjoy lunch in the city.
We will then head out to Virunga national park headquarters for clearance before proceeding to your lodge of choice for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.
DAY 2: VIRUNGA GORILLA TREKKING AND DEPARTURES
Expect a very early start to this action-packed day 2 of this safari. You can you’re your breakfast before departure and also have lunch packed before your driver transfers you to Virunga National Park headquarters for a critical briefing.
After the briefing you will drive again to the trailhead of the gorilla trekking where you will meet with the armed rangers, guides and porters for hire then off to the wilderness you enter in search of habituated mountain gorillas. This trek is not only about the gorillas though, you will also encounter forest hogs, blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys among others.
After your gorilla trekking experience, you will return to the lodge freshen up, check out of the lodge and meet with your driver and embark on the journey to Kigali or another drop-off location of your choice.
