Hell’s Gate Excursion

Named for the intense geothermal activity within its boundaries, Hell’s Gate National Park is a remarkable quarter of the Great Rift Valley. Spectacular scenery including the towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub-clad volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam make it one of the most atmospheric parks in Africa. This safari is perfect for a day trip from Nairobi where, in addition to the bio-diversity that includes raptors, visitors can enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing and a natural spa at an extra cost.

African buffalo, zebra, eland, hartebeest, Thomson’s gazelle and baboons are common. The park is also home to klipspringer antelope and Chandler’s mountain reedbuck.

In addition, there are over 100 species of birds in the park including vultures, Verreaux’s Eagles, augur buzzard and swifts. We shall combine this tour with a visit to lake Naivasha where you can take a boat ride and enjoy the serenity of this fresh water lake

You will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel or airport early in the morning, usually by 0700 hrs, and head towards the Great Rift Valley to Hell’s Gate, 2hrs away from Nairobi.

On the way you will stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint and if weather permits you will have a view of Longonot, a dormant volcanic mountain.

You will then experience a drive around the park upon arrival and later have lunch at in one of the lake’s resorts. If you prefer, you can also have a boat ride on Lake Naivasha before heading back to Nairobi.

Drop off at your Nairobi hotel.
