Arusha national park & kilimanjaro 2-DAY safari

This short but exciting safari in Tanzania combines two of the country’s most interesting safari destinations for unforgettable game viewing, birding tours, jaw-dropping sceneries and cultural tours. This tailor-made short tour is perfect for travellers with limited budget and time within the East African region.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: ZANZIBAR-ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK.

This safari starts from Zanzibar. A designated driver will pick you up from your hotel in Zanzibar and drop you at the airfield to depart for Arusha, on a one-and-a-half-hour flight. You will be received warmly by our professional safari guides upon landing and immediately transfer to Arusha National Park by road.

Upon arrival, you will experience a guided game drive through different landscapes of this Tanzanian park which is characterized by abundant views of Black and white colobus monkeys, warthogs, Defassa waterbucks, hippos, colorful flamingos, duikers, giraffes, blue monkeys and zebras among others.

You can also expect occasional views of the elegant Ostriches, African bush elephants, vultures, pelicans, wildebeests and African fish eagles. Although rare spotted, your game drive will be complete with views of spotted hyenas, leopards, lions and jackals.

You will then have your lunch, most likely packed lunch from your hotel and continue with the game viewing adventure. After this riveting wildlife exploration, proceed to Moshi for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 2: DRIVE TO MATERUNI VILLAGE AND WATERFALLS

After breakfast on day 2, at your Moshi Camp or lodge, we will depart for the famous Materuni village, a hidden gem nestled at the lower slopes of Mount. Kilimanjaro.

First, you will attend a briefing from your local guides then embark on the 40 to 50-minutes hike to the bottom of the spectacular Materuni waterfalls. This waterfall is about 90 meters high and while here, feel free to request to enjoy a swim in the cool waters at the bottom of the waterfall.

This area also provides you with an awesome cultural learning experience through guided walks in the nearby Materuni village. You will learn about their way of life and culture, visit one of the homesteads where you will learn about the preparation of a typical Chagga meal and even have lunch in this area.

Are you a coffee lover? Here, you will get a chance to enjoy a coffee-filled desert with the organic beverage made in your presence with beautiful songs and dances from the local community members, then a brief stop at the nearby school to interact with learners and teachers.

After this cultural experience, your driver will transfer you to the Airport of Kilimanjaro to connect to Zanzibar for drop-off at your hotel, continuation of your trip or flight back home.
