Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, your Native Expeditions guide will collect you from your Arusha hotel and drive to Lake Manyara National Park.

Explore groundwater forest, acacia woodland and the lake’s seasonal shoreline. Look out for elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, hippos and diverse birdlife. The park is associated with tree-climbing lions, but sightings are occasional and never guaranteed.

Continue to your selected accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Overnight: Manyara or Karatu area

Day 2: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, travel through the Ngorongoro highlands toward Serengeti National Park.

Enter through the Naabi Hill area and enjoy your first Serengeti game drive en route to the lodge or camp. The park’s plains and woodland support lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras and wildebeests.

Arrive at your accommodation for dinner.

Overnight: Serengeti National Park

Day 3: Full-Day Serengeti Game Viewing

Spend the day exploring the Serengeti with your guide. The route will be selected according to season, road conditions and current wildlife movements.

Search for predators around kopjes and open plains, watch large herbivore herds and enjoy the park’s exceptional birdlife. The Great Migration changes location throughout the year and cannot be promised on a fixed route.

Return to your lodge or camp for dinner.

Overnight: Serengeti National Park

Day 4: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti before travelling toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

An optional visit to Olduvai Gorge may be arranged, subject to time, opening conditions and additional fees. The gorge is internationally important for archaeological and palaeoanthropological research.

Continue to accommodation near the crater rim or in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.

Overnight: Ngorongoro or Karatu area

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater and Return to Arusha

After an early breakfast, descend approximately 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive.

Look for wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas, lions and elephants. Black rhinos inhabit the conservation area but remain uncommon and sightings are not guaranteed.

After a picnic lunch, ascend the crater and drive back to Arusha for a hotel or airport drop-off, subject to suitable flight timing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Great Migration guaranteed?
The herds move through the wider Serengeti ecosystem in response to rainfall and grazing. Your travel dates influence where migration-focused game drives should be planned.
Is Olduvai Gorge included?
It is best treated as an optional stop because timing, entry fees and operating arrangements may vary. Confirm it during quotation.
Can the final day connect with a flight?
Possibly, if the flight departs late enough. Share the confirmed schedule so the route and drop-off can be planned safely.
