Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Gulu or Kitgum

Your Native Expeditions guide will collect you early from Kampala or Entebbe for the journey north. Travel through Luwero and Nakasongola, with stops for refreshments and lunch along the way. Continue to Gulu or Kitgum for an overnight stay, breaking up the long road journey to Kidepo.

Overnight: Gulu or Kitgum

Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park

After breakfast, continue to Kidepo Valley National Park through the changing landscapes of northern Uganda.

Arrive around lunchtime and check in at your lodge. Later, enjoy an afternoon game drive through Narus Valley.

Look out for lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, jackals and, with some luck, cheetahs or leopards.

Overnight: Kidepo Valley National Park

Day 3: Kidepo Game Drive and Karamojong Culture

Begin the day with an early morning game drive when wildlife is most active.

Explore the savannah and seasonal water sources of Narus Valley while searching for predators, large mammals and dry-country birds such as ostriches.

In the afternoon, visit a nearby Karamojong community. Learn about traditional homesteads, pastoral life, food preparation, beadwork, music, dance and other aspects of everyday community life.

Overnight: Kidepo Valley National Park

Day 4: Transfer from Kidepo to Sipi Falls

After an early breakfast, begin the long but scenic journey south through the Karamoja region to Sipi Falls.

Arrive in the late afternoon or evening and settle into your lodge. If time permits, enjoy a short village walk or introductory coffee experience.

Overnight: Sipi Falls

Day 5: Sipi Falls Hike and Return to Kampala

Start the day with a guided hike to one or more of the Sipi waterfalls. The route offers views of Mount Elgon, surrounding farmland and the plains below.

Depending on time, complete a short farm-to-cup coffee experience to learn how locally grown Arabica coffee is harvested, processed, roasted and prepared.

Afterwards, begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe. Expect an evening arrival.
