Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Kidepo Valley National Park

Your Native Expeditions guide will collect you early from Kampala or Entebbe for the journey north.

Travel through Gulu and Kitgum, stopping for lunch and refreshments along the way. Continue to Kidepo Valley National Park and arrive at your lodge in the evening.

This is a long transfer day, so an early departure is required.

Overnight: Kidepo Valley National Park

Day 2: Kidepo Game Drives

Begin the day with an early game drive through Narus Valley, the park’s main wildlife-viewing area.

Look out for lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, jackals and, with some luck, cheetahs or leopards. Birdwatchers can search for ostriches and other species associated with Uganda’s drier northeast.

Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation before taking another game drive in the late afternoon.

A night game drive may be arranged where officially available.

Overnight: Kidepo Valley National Park

Day 3: Guided Nature Walk and Cultural Experience

After breakfast, join an authorised ranger for a guided nature walk in or near the park.

Explore the landscape at a slower pace while learning about animal tracks, plants, birds and the wider Kidepo ecosystem.

After lunch, visit a nearby Karamojong community to learn about traditional homesteads, pastoral life, food, crafts, music and dance.

Overnight: Kidepo Valley National Park

Day 4: Return to Kampala or Entebbe

Enjoy an early breakfast before beginning the return journey.

Stop for lunch and refreshments along the way before arriving in Kampala or Entebbe in the evening.

Travellers with an international departure should arrange an additional night in Entebbe rather than booking a same-day flight.

The road journey generally takes 10–12 hours, depending on traffic, road conditions and stops. It is one of Uganda’s longest national park transfers.
