Itinerary



Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park

A Native Expeditions representative will collect you from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Travel through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. After checking in and having lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Search for rhinos, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras and antelopes. The lake and surrounding wetlands also attract flamingos, pelicans and many other birds.

Overnight: Lake Nakuru

Day 2: Lake Nakuru to the Maasai Mara

Begin the day with an early game drive before returning to your lodge for breakfast and check-out.

Travel to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, arriving in the afternoon or early evening. Depending on the time available, enjoy a short introductory game drive on the way to your camp.

Overnight: Maasai Mara

Day 3: Full-Day Maasai Mara Safari

Spend the day exploring the Maasai Mara on morning and afternoon game drives.

Look out for lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos and hyenas.

During the migration season, large herds may move into the reserve from Tanzania’s Serengeti. Their timing and location depend on rainfall and grazing conditions.

An optional sunrise hot-air balloon safari can be arranged at an additional cost.

Overnight: Maasai Mara

Day 4: Maasai Mara to Lake Naivasha

Enjoy an early game drive before returning to your lodge for breakfast and check-out.

Travel through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha. After checking in, take a boat ride to see hippos and waterbirds such as African fish eagles, kingfishers, herons and cormorants.

The boat ride will depend on arrival time, weather and lake conditions.

Overnight: Lake Naivasha

Day 5: Return to Nairobi

Enjoy breakfast and a relaxed morning beside Lake Naivasha before travelling to Nairobi.

Your guide will drop you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your hotel or another agreed location.

An optional visit to Hell’s Gate National Park can be added if your departure schedule allows.

Can I see rhinos at Lake Nakuru?

Lake Nakuru is one of Kenya’s important rhino conservation areas and offers opportunities to see both black and white rhinos. Sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Can I see the Great Migration?

Large herds may be present in the Maasai Mara during the migration season. Their movement depends on rainfall, grazing and river conditions.

Is the hot-air balloon safari included?

No. The balloon safari is an optional activity charged separately and should be reserved in advance.
